Browns Head Lighthouse, Vinalhaven, Maine
When the station was rebuilt in 1857 a wooden bell tower was added. The tower housed a 1,000 pound fog bell rung by a clockwork system. When the station was automated in 1987 the fog bell tower was demolished and the bell was moved to the Vinalhaven Historical Society Museum. Upon visiting the museum I had to inquire where the bell was located, we searched for it and found it in the basement of the museum.
